My experience growing Peyote Gorilla was what got me excited to grow the entire Seedsman Peyote family, and take part in the comparative grow on Instagram. Known for its potent ability to ease away aches and pains combined with a stimulating and uplifting high, this plant exceeded my expectations in so many ways.
Seedsman’s Peyote Gorilla is a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 (Chem Sister x Chocolate Diesel) and Peyote Purple, a colourful pheno-type of Bubba Kush. What makes it stand out from the crowd is its abundant trichome production. The flowers look like disco balls, with the buds and sugar leaves covered, front to back with trichomes.
This is a very potent strain. As you begin to smoke it the taste and flavour are immediately pleasing. The scent is a mix of fuel and sweet fruits. The dominant taste is fuel but the fruity undertone gives it a sweetness that leaves your mouth watering. There is no dry mouth with this strain.
Quite quickly, you feel it take over your head. Kinda like a slap in the face. Goodbye anxiety. Any feelings of worry or stress just fade away and you feel really good. Happy and high, it then hits the rest of your body and you realise that you don’t feel as sore and heavy as you used to and your body starts to relax. It’s a wonderful effect – to have a happy mind and a relaxed body. However, I wouldn’t suggest this as a party starter, because you may end up taking a nap after smoking this strain.
Seeds were soaked in water for 24 hours. Next placed in wet paper towel in a plastic sandwich bag. 24 hours later the root is placed in soil. They were transplanted approximately 2 weeks later into a 5 gallon plastic pot in Pro mix HP soil.
These plants were grown indoor under LED lighting for 46 days until flipped to flower. They then flowered for 63 days until being chopped and hung to dry.
They were fed Remo nutrients during veg and flower stages, and flushed 2 weeks before chopping.
This is a medium to large sized plant. The plants had a large stretch between node space. This made it very pleasant for trimming. The fan and sun leaves are fairly large and wide. Sugar leaves are also wide but all leaves left on during flower time were covered in trichomes.
Drying and Curing
They were dry hung for 12 days, and then dry trimmed by hand and placed in glass amber mason jars to cure. They were burped daily for 2 weeks and set aside to cure for 4 more weeks.
This is an easy plant to trim, ideal for beginners. The buds are well spaced out and very large. I suggest a large mouthed mason jar or you’ll need to break up your buds into smaller sections. I suggest using a trim bin to trim this plant so you can catch all the kief that will fall from trimming. There will be a lot!
This high resin plant is made for extracts. We made infused butter and hash with the trim from these plants. Both the butter and hash produced were of amazing quality. We also pressed flower into rosin and it was incredible. Peyote Gorilla with its beautiful crystal buds produced some of the most fine rosin I have ever made. It was pure fuel though and strong! So strong!! These buds also gave us a very good return – nearly 21%.
The stems on my plants were not strong enough towards the end to hold up the heavy buds. I would recommend a SCROG. Trichome production is very heavy and is definitely one of its best features.
This is a plant that could be grown by a beginner. But I would suggest flipping these plants early rather than later as they can get very tall with the stretch during flower. I would also suggest topping it a few times during early veg to increase the amount of colas. Try and remove the lower fluff to keep the energy for the big flowers and give a final de-leafing around the 3 to 4 week. Do not remove too much before this time.
